Franz Nicolay, who played this past weekend, made a couple suggestions for me when he had to reschedule his initial BBS, but I had already found out a replacement by then. However, I did listen to his suggestions and found Pearl and The Beard’s (note: Franz also plays on a couple tracks on their recent album) pop folk to be the best and most fitting for BBS. When I hit up a few friends to see what they thought, my buddy Gabe responded: “Did you listen to the Will Smith medley??? Book them JUST for that.” So I took Gabe’s advice and confirmed them for a date in September.
And without further adieu I give you Pearl and The Beard’s hilarious re-imagination of Will Smith classics, “Men In Black”, “Summertime”, “Wild West West”, and “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” with a tease of “Parents Just Don’t Understand” at the end.
