If you’ve never heard of this band, you’re not crazy because it’s not a band. Similar to last year, I’ve made a concerted effort to get local food vendors involved on top of highlighting local musicians.
When Smorgasburg opened up for the summer, I went with my friend Gabe to check it out. Both of us appreciate fine coffee, so we decided to give Grady’s Cold Brew a try. I didn’t want sugar or milk because good coffee should taste perfect on its own. That being said, it was the best cold brew I have ever tasted. I shit you not. Strong, but not too strong. Texture had perfect thickness. The flavors were well balanced.
So as soon as I got home, I hit up Grady and he was totally into lending some product for a session. I also told him about my investment in Kings County Distillery and that I thought that his cold brew would pair amazingly well with KCD’s Chocolate Whiskey to make a Whiskey Black Russian. He responded with excitement saying, “We’ve actually been pushing our cold brew as a cocktail mixer lately…especially for brunch (booze and caffeine in one stop). It’s a more socially acceptable, adult Four Loko.”
Cheers to that Grady!
You can buy his cold brew from Smorgasburg/Brooklyn Flea every weekend, at local-friendly markets around the city, or online. Check it out if you haven’t already.
